Join a small, experienced and practical ecology team

Wessex Ecology is an independent ecological consultancy providing planning-focused surveys, reports and on-site support across the Wessex region and Greater London.

We are a growing team of ecologists, arboriculturists and technical specialists who value clear thinking, proportionate advice and good communication. Our work spans a wide range of projects, from small householder developments to complex commercial and rural schemes.

  • Reliability and attention to detail

We work collaboratively, support continued learning and encourage a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

Current opportunities

We do not always advertise specific vacancies, but we are happy to hear from experienced ecologists and arboricultural professionals who feel their skills would be a good fit for our work.

This may include:

  • Ecologists with experience in planning-led surveys and reporting

  • Licensed bat, great crested newt or dormouse ecologists

Graduate and early-career roles

From time to time, we may offer opportunities for graduates or early-career ecologists to gain experience supporting surveys, reporting and fieldwork.

If you are keen to develop practical, planning-focused skills and are willing to learn, we are happy to hear from you.

How to apply

If you are interested in working with Wessex Ecology, please email info@wessexecology.co.uk with:

  • A short covering note

  • Your CV

  • Details of your experience and survey licences (if applicable)
